Thankful Petals

Time to be thankful!  I am thankful for my family, my friends and for a wonderful hobby I can share with all of you.  This one uses the Blossom Builder Punch and the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set.  There are great sentiments on this stamp set along with the Just Add Text stamp set I used on the inside.  For a YouTube tutorial click here.  To experience making this card with me please join me for this week’s Cocktail and a Card class!

The petals and leaves are bending up from the card for a fun 3D effect without extra bulk.  There are no dimensionals used.  The colors I used were just Rose Red and Old Olive.  I made my own DSP (designer series paper) because I didn’t have enough plain Rose Red cardstock and I didn’t have any DSP that used Rose Red.  I guess I could have used something with Old Olive but I really wanted the Rose Red to pop on this one.  I also did a Marina Mist version for the YouTube tutorial, although many colors will look fabulous with this design.

The dimensions for this card:

Whisper White cardstock – 8.5″ x 5.5″, folded in half to 4.25″ x 5.5″

Whisper White cardstock – 4″ x 5.25″

Whisper White cardstock – 3.25″ x 4.5″

Gold Embossed Leaves – Sept. 2017 Paper Pumpkin Alternative

Leaf-blog

It’s time to be thankful!  I love the gorgeous colors on the trees this time of year.  And while it is almost 90 for one more day, tomorrow promises to be much cooler.  I am getting a little excited to wear my hoodies again.

This card is made using the September Paper Pumpkin kit stamps.  The leaf stamps are so pretty!  And I realized the shape of the beautiful gold foil stickers matches the leaf from the Colorful Seasons stamp set from the catalog.  I have been eyeing that one for a while, because it covers all four seasons quite wonderfully.  And I am thrilled to have received these leaf stamps in this kit, along with the nice fall ink color Cajun Craze.

For these cards I took a Crumb Cake base card and stamped the smaller leaf all over the front in Crumb Cake ink for a tone on tone look.  The card on the left is using cutout shapes from the kit and the one on the right was created just by using the stamps and cardstock from the catalog.  For the small leaf I just embossed gold on Early Espresso cardstock and fussy cut it out.  The tag was copied from the kit using Whisper White cardstock at 3/4″ x 1 5/8″, cut at the corners and hold punched.  Then I laid the bottom onto my Versamark ink pad and embossed that part with gold embossing powder, then repeated that for a nice thick solid band.

To create the rainbow leaf I used Shimmery White cardstock (excellent for watercoloring).   I embossed the large leaf stamp in gold embossing powder and heat set it.  Then I stamped 4 colors along my F acrylic block, like a paint palette.  I used Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Cajun Craze and Real Red.  Using the aquapainter I wet the image and then added color to it.  Since the paper was wet, each color blended nicely with the next.  I did wipe off the brush tip between colors so the colors on the palette didn’t blend.  I painted well outside the outline so that when I fussy cut the large leaf there would be no white border.

For the inside of the card I used an image from the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set that says, “Thank you very much.”  It showed up well in Cajun Craze on the Crumb Cake cardstock, without having to add a white insert like you would with darker card bases.

Here is a YouTube tutorial on making this card.

Daisy Thanks Card

Flower-Thanks-Web

Crafting is so therapeutic!  This card makes me so happy and it was quick and easy to put together.  I’m sure it will brighten someone’s day.

We’ll be making this card during this week’s Cocktail and a Card class.  If you are in the Williamston, MI area, try to make it out once just to give it a shot.  I think you’ll really enjoy it.  Plus it’s only $5, so there’s no risk!

The center daisy was stamped on scrap paper and fussy cut out.  The other flowers are stamped directly onto the second largest stitched shapes framelits circle.  The fussy cut flower is popped up on dimensionals.  The circle is on dimensionals as well, over top of leaves cut out in vellum and pear pizzazz using the Lovely Laurel Thinlits.

Removable Mason Jar Shaker Tag

Shaker-Main

I love the versatility of this project.  You have an encouraging card, but then also a removable gift tag or keepsake.  You could even use it as an ornament!  And glitter is so much fun, even though it does get everywhere.  (It cleaned up easily, no problem!  Haha!)

I made a tutorial video on YouTube so you can follow along how to make this yourself.

Jar-liftedInside

Here are the dimensions I used:

Whisper White Cardstock:

card base 5.5″ x 8.5″, scored and folded in half

backing panel at 3.25″ x 4.5″

quarter sheet cut at 3/8″ and 2.25″ from the other side

Daffodil Delight cardstock – 4″ x 5.25″

Merry Little Christmas DSP – 3″ x 4.25″

window sheet and vellum scraps

8″-9″ of Basic Black and white striped baker’s twine

PS.  Did you know I put funny true stories at the bottom of the notes from each regular tutorial video on YouTube?  Scroll down to view and make a comment because I super duper love comments.

The loose glitter I used was from Walmart:

Here is the link to the YouTube tutorial:  Typed instructions are below.

Cut a piece of 8.5″ x 11″ Powder Pink cardstock in half and fold to create a landscape card. Cut a 2″ x just under 4″ strip of the included striped brown bag, including the decorative edge. Cut a 4″ piece of burlap ribbon.

Stamp the included tiny flower stamp in Powder Pink ink diagonally across the card front. Take out the dots from It’s a Sara Thing Paper Pumpkin kit. Stamp them in the included Soft Suede ink, stamp off on scrap paper and then stamp diagonally across card front. Stamp Thankful For You sentiment on included white tag in Soft Suede ink.

Adhere a Delicate White Doily to the left of the card using snail adhesive or the included adhesive dots. Adhere the bag strip on top of that so that just a bit of the doily peeks out the left side. Adhere the Burlap Ribbon using Fast Fuse or Tear and Tape. Place included dimensionals on the back of the tag. Place on top of the ribbon.

Tie a bow with the included gold twine. Adhere to card using a Mini Glue Dot. Place a few of the included pearls, sprinkled along the diagonal movement of the background. All done!
