Create easy and beautiful Christmas Cards: Snip & Flip Layout!

The Snip & Flip card layout makes it easy to create lots of cards at once.

This fabulous Feels Like Frost designer series paper, with it’s striking wintery photos on one side and shimmery silver foil on the other, inspired me to create a layout that not only works great with this paper but also with other patterns and themes! It’s so easy, I wonder why I haven’t seen this before.

Since this is 6″ x 6″ paper I’ll go over how to cut this size paper and then how to do it with 12″ x 12″. With your pattern facing right side up, cut at 4″ so you have a 4″ x 6″ piece and a 2″ x 6″ piece. Taking the 4″x6″ piece, turn so the 6″ side is at the top and cut at 4.5″. You will turn them both right facing again and just flip the bottom piece over. So simple! And you have some wiggle room to show more or less of the main image because of the way this is cut. Each pack of 6″ x 6″ paper has 48 sheets, so that’s at least 48 cards using this layout, plus another 24 or so with the strips left over.

I’ve used the 3/8″ Metallic Ribbon to cover the seam (wrapped around the bottom portion) and have popping out from under my greetings, which are on dimensionals. The great thing about this ribbon is it is incredibly easy to color using our Blends! The white and silver look stunning with all paper, but it was a fun way to add another pop of color. That ribbon also comes in Vanilla/Gold so you can really match any project.

For a 12″ x 12″ piece of patterned paper you would simply cut at 4″ and 8″ and then in half again at the 6″ on the other side so you have 6 pieces of 4″ x 6″ paper. You’ll be able to make 6 cards with that. And with a whole pack of paper, that’s 72 EASY cards!

You might be wondering what to do with the 2″ strip we have left from the 6″ x 6″ papers. I took those strips and cut most of them into 1″ x 6″ strips and then just layered them on my card. Using both sides I was able to add some color to the cards without another ink color. I used Basic Gray ink on all of these cards along with the versatile Christmas stamp set Wrapped in Christmas. This set has a variety of text styles and shapes that make it a great set to use for many projects both big and small.

I hope you like this Snip & Flip card layout. I’d love to see any cards you create using this method. You can email me or Facebook message me and I might feature your card on my next Facebook post. You can make 40 cards very easily with these products:

*One Pack of Thick Whisper White cardstock – 24 sheets (enough for 40 cards plus 4 sheets left over for greetings)

*One pack of medium Whisper White envelopes – 40 envelopes

*One pack of Feels Like Frost designer series paper – 48 6″ x 6″ double sided sheets (photos on one side and silver foil and white on the other)

*One spool of 3/8″ Silver Metallic Edge Ribbon – 10 yards, enough for 5″ on all 40 cards plus lots left over

Adhesive of your choice (I recommend Stampin’ Dimensionals, Stampin’ Seal and Stampin’ Seal +)

Make 72 cards by getting 2 packs each of the paper and envelopes! You’ll still have enough designer series paper and ribbon to complete 72 cards. That comes to $1.08 per card including the 3 adhesives! That’s an incredible value…and it’s easy…and beautiful! Win Win Win! Click on any of the links below to shop this project and use hostess code BBYDY94P during the month of November. Happy Stamping!

Christmas Countdown Box…or is it?

This is the Christmas Countdown box kit, a returning favorite from last year’s Christmas catalog. The box is premade and sturdy, as are the cute little boxes inside. It comes with all the supplies needed to decorate as shown above here. BUT…wait there’s more! In the catalog it hints that you can decorate this as a storage piece to go with your decor, as birthday packaging or as a different holiday countdown. There is truly no limit to what you can do with this box, but sometimes it’s hard to come up with the ideas. So I’ve searched and brainstormed and I’ve come up with over 30 other ideas of how to use the box, how to decorate and what you could put inside.

“That’s great, but I can only choose one of the ideas.” NOT TRUE! You could actually do nearly ALL of the ideas with this trick:

Velcro dots!

What a great idea, right?! I didn’t come up with it, but I did scour the internet for lots more great ideas and brainstormed for a while on what else you could do with it. So as a ‘thank you’ for ordering the kit from me I will email you my idea list with over 30 ideas of how to use, decorate and fill this box including some printables! Which idea will you use first?

*A note about this kit: As I mentioned this is a returning favorite from last year. Last year there was an optional stamp set available to decorate the front. The directions in the kit are the same, suggesting you decorate with the stamp set, which is no longer available.

BUT I’ve decorated this kit using JUST the contents of the kit. Panels 2 and 4 are the ones that I modified with extra kit pieces instead of using stamps and the others I just followed the directions. I think they turned out cute!

A: Email me that you would like to sign up for a class, list the class title and which class option you would like and I will send you a PayPal invoice. I cannot include a pay link on my website, per Stampin’ Up! policy. Don’t forget to send me your address!

Q: I don’t have all the stamps.  Will I still be able to make the projects for the class?

A: Most often, yes.  Feel free to use any stamps and ink you already own.  I will include tips on using substitutions. You are always welcome to add the specific stamp set or other items (such as adhesives or ink pads) that you need to complete the class to any class registration. Just list what you need in your email.

Q: When will I get my class materials?

Projects kits will be shipped about a week after registration closes. Please allow 7-10 days for delivery after that.  Please know that occasionally back order situations (out of my control) that arise can impact these dates, but I will communicate that with you to avoid frustration as soon as possible! The online tutorial emailed link will be sent shortly after kits go out in the mail. Add on items are shipped straight from Stampin’ Up! and usually take 7-10 days to arrive at your door.

Q: I’m a demonstrator. Can I use this tutorial for my own class?

A: I ask that you please don’t share the exclusive link with anyone as I’ve put a lot of work into creating these tutorials and videos for you. You may use the .pdf and videos as a guide to create your own .pdf and videos. CASEing (copy and share everything) is part of the joy of finding inspiration online, but please give me written credit on your own tutorial if you are using my exact card designs. FYI, I’d love to see what your versions look like! Send me an email!

Q: I’m not in the US. Can I still buy the class?

A: You may get Option 1, the online instructions only. The other options include products and per Stampin’ Up! policy we are only allowed to sell products without our own country. There are many countries that sell Stampin’ Up! and you can look to see if there is a demonstrator in your country to buy product.
